Job Summary

Serve as the recognised technical expert for gas compliance across the Defence estate. Oversee statutory inspections, planned maintenance programmes, technical audits, documentation review, and corrective actions for natural gas, LPG, and associated systems. Provide guidance to operational teams, contractors, and project managers, assess contractor competence, manage gas-related risks, and produce compliance reports for senior stakeholders while supporting a proactive safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

•Oversee statutory inspections, planned maintenance programmes, and compliance activities for gas systems.
•Conduct technical audits, review documentation, and ensure corrective actions are completed effectively.
•Provide technical guidance to operational teams, contractors, and project managers on maintenance, refurbishment, and new installations.
•Identify and manage gas-related risks, maintain compliance records, and support emergency responses when required.
•Assess contractor competence, monitor supplier performance, and produce compliance reports for senior stakeholders while promoting continuous improvement.

Salary: GBP 50,000 - 55,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Extensive experience managing gas compliance across large property, facilities management, or infrastructure portfolios.
•Thorough understanding of gas legislation, British Standards, and wider health and safety regulations.
•Comfort carrying out compliance audits and managing planned and reactive maintenance programmes using risk-based decision-making.
•Current ACS Gas qualifications relevant to the role, plus a recognised Mechanical or Building Services qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, HNC, HND) or equivalent experience.
•Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to advise contractors, clients, and operational teams while maintaining governance and compliance standards.
