Key Responsibilities

  • •Troubleshoot network equipment, remove/replace defective equipment, and isolate/restore network service; identify potential problem areas proactively.
  • •Install, change, decommission, and test transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers; install/test network and customer equipment (CPE) to deliver end-user services.
  • •Locate, mark, and protect underground outside-plant facilities using industry standard tools and methods without error.
  • •Perform installation and maintenance work for AC power (limited basis) and DC power installs including tertiary and BDCBB.
  • •Conduct level 1 preventive scheduled maintenance/inspections for network and critical infrastructure (including HVAC, high-voltage electrical systems, and DC power plants) and manage on-site/truck materials and asset processes.

Key Requirements

  • •5+ years technician experience in a telecommunications/data center environment with knowledge of standard telecommunications practices.
  • •Master knowledge of transmission (DSO, POTS, DDS, FT1, DS1, E1, DS3, Sonet/SDH), switching (SS7, trunking, signaling), and TCP/IP (Fast/Gigabit Ethernet, networking protocols, router installation/configuration).
  • •Strong technical and mechanical background with experience on latest-generation transport gear and critical infrastructure (HVAC, high-voltage electrical systems, DC power plants).
  • •Experience locating fiber optic cable and knowledge of right-of-way and as-builts.
  • •Valid state vehicle operator’s license with a satisfactory driving record; ability to work safely in outdoor and hazardous conditions and complete on-call/dispatch duties.
