Key Responsibilities

  • •Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminium using MMA, MAG, MIG, FCAW, and automatic/semi-automatic processes such as Submerged Arc and BUG-O.
  • •Produce high-quality butt and fillet welds, including work using ceramic tiles within FCAW/MAG processes.
  • •Carry out self-verification of welds to maintain consistent quality and compliance with standards.
  • •Follow safe working practices at all times, adhering to SHE requirements and applying effective fume-control measures.
  • •Apply SVQ3-level expertise in teams of 6–12 to deliver complex welding solutions for Type 26 frigates.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: GBP 40,016

Key Requirements

  • •Hold a Modern Apprenticeship certificate (Trade Papers) and provide the papers on application and in person.
  • •Have relevant mechanical qualifications (e.g., SVQ3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).
  • •Demonstrate ceramic-tile welding experience and proficiency with Flux-Cored Arc Welding, Metal-Cored Arc Welding, and associated equipment.
  • •Produce welds that consistently meet visual and NDE examination standards.
  • •Weld carbon-steel materials in the 4–15 mm thickness range and apply SHE requirements and risk-assessment principles.
