Key Responsibilities

  • •Review and approve the contractor’s proposed materials and methods as delegated by the Resident Engineer.
  • •Prepare the Material Engineer’s daily diary and maintain neat, accurate material records.
  • •Oversee contractor daily activities, including work assignments, on-site performance, and guidance for contractor operations.
  • •Periodically supervise material sampling and testing, conduct random checks for conformance, and witness sampling and testing.
  • •Perform statistical analysis on test results and provide QA/QC technical advice and guidance; mentor staff as required.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field plus 8 years of relevant experience (or demonstrated equivalency).
  • •Relevant experience on dam projects, including inspection, rehabilitation and/or new design and construction.
  • •In-depth knowledge of material properties, behavior, and failure analysis.
  • •Experience performing inspection, design, and/or engineering activities for dams or water retaining structures.
  • •Bilingual capability (English and Spanish).
