Key Responsibilities

  • •Conduct comprehensive threat and risk assessments for mining operations, factoring in geopolitical risks and local security conditions.
  • •Develop, implement, and enforce security plans and protocols for personnel, facilities, and equipment, including access control, surveillance, and incident response.
  • •Collaborate with local law enforcement and authorities to enhance security measures and coordinate responses to security threats or incidents.
  • •Create crisis management and emergency response plans, and provide training and drills to ensure preparedness for security scenarios.
  • •Perform regular security audits, stay current on security intelligence and legal/regulatory requirements, and report security status, incidents, and KPIs to senior management.

Key Requirements

  • •Matric plus National Diploma in Security Risk Management (NQF6) or equivalent, or a Bachelor’s Degree/BTech in Security Risk Management (NQF7) or equivalent.
  • •Registered with PSIRA (Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority) Grade A and hold an Executive Protection Course.
  • •Valid Firearm Certificate (including SAPS competency certification), SA Drivers Licence, and ability to handle less-lethal weapons.
  • •5–7 years of security management experience, preferably in mining, with at least two years in an advisory role and experience in criminal investigations/intelligence networks.
  • •Demonstrated experience managing security functions (alarm response, crowd/incident/riot management/aviation security) and conducting security/public liability audits; clean criminal record (including successful pre-employment polygraph).
