  • •Lead and manage U.S. state and local tax audits across multiple jurisdictions, including correspondence, negotiations, and advocacy before tax authorities.
  • •Develop and execute audit defense strategies, including IDR responses, responses to notices of proposed adjustments, protests, and administrative appeals.

Key Requirements

  • •7-8+ years of tax controversy experience with significant focus on U.S. state and local tax (law firm, Big 4, or in-house).
  • •J.D. required; LL.M. in Taxation is a plus.
  • •Admission to at least one U.S. state bar; Connecticut or New York bar admission preferred.
  • •Deep expertise in U.S. state and local tax law (corporate income/franchise tax, nexus, apportionment/allocation, unitary business principles).
  • •Strong knowledge of tax controversy procedures (audit management, administrative appeals, litigation) and U.S. federal income tax law including Subchapter C and Subchapter K.
