Key Responsibilities

  • •Data Center Heat Rejection and HVAC System Design: develop and design heat rejection and HVAC systems tailored for data centers with considerations for air-cooled or direct liquid cooling, load calculations, future flexibility, redundancy, energy efficiency, and standards compliance.
  • •Cooling System Selection: select appropriate air/water side cooling systems (CRAHs, CHW, DX, in-row cooling, containment) based on data center needs and criticality.
  • •Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analysis: perform internal and external CFD analyses to optimize airflow, identify hotspots, and recommend design modifications; coordinate changes with other trades.
  • •Redundancy and Fault Tolerance: design HVAC systems with backup cooling, automatic switchover, and monitoring for continuous operation.
  • •Heat Load Calculation and Capacity Planning: perform heat load calculations and capacity planning for IT equipment, power density, growth, and phasing; ensure facility can accommodate expansions.

Key Requirements

  • •6+ years in a similar field or technology sector.
  • •Proficiency in HVAC, hydronic and air-side system design, including load calculations, equipment selection, hydronic calculations, ductwork and piping design, control systems, and energy analysis; experience with CFD analysis for optimizing airflow is beneficial.
  • •Ability to collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to integrate HVAC systems with electrical infrastructure, UPS, emergency power, fire suppression, and other critical systems.
  • •Experience in preparing detailed technical drawings, specifications, and documentation related to HVAC design for data centers.
  • •Experience in reviewing contractor shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and in developing Methods of Procedures (MOP) and Commissioning (Cx) procedures; knowledge of data center standards (TIA/BICSI) and related codes; proficiency with relevant software (Carrier HAP, Trane TRACE, Ansys, IES, Six Sigma, TileFlow, Pipe-Flo, Cradle, NavisWorks, BIM/Revit, AutoCAD).
