Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide counsel and advice to business and technology teams on deal structures and approaches to addressing issues, serving as a trusted strategic advisor.
  • •Review and advise on commercial and contractual enhancements and new business initiatives using risk-based judgment.
  • •Draft, negotiate, and drive to completion complex commercial, technology, and strategic partnership agreements.
  • •Represent AP Legal and liaise with global and regional Visa legal teams, coordinating support across Japan, Korea, and Mongolia.
  • •Advise on regulatory consultations and government engagements related to payment regulations; perform other assigned responsibilities by Chief Counsel for Asia Pacific.

Key Requirements

  • •12 to 15 years of post-qualification legal experience; qualified to practice law in Japan or a common law jurisdiction.
  • •Solid corporate/commercial experience drafting and negotiating strategic, complex cross-border deals in a top-tier law firm or multinational company.
  • •Excellent command of written and spoken English and Japanese; able to work in Tokyo, Japan.
  • •Strong legal analytical skills integrating legal advice with business knowledge to provide balanced risk/benefit guidance.
  • •Ability to independently manage and drive complex cross-border commercial and technology transactions while juggling multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
