Key Responsibilities

  • •Own forecasting from lab capacity and pricing inputs through top-down P&L, burn, and runway.
  • •Own gross margin and determine true experiment cost drivers across DNA, reagents, consumables, instrument time, and labour.
  • •Own the close, including fast and correct group consolidation and intercompany management.
  • •Own cash management across Switzerland and the US, including AP runs, AR collection, and payment timing.
  • •Keep the company compliant across tax, VAT, audit, payroll, and external firms, and support investor reporting and fundraising.

Key Requirements

  • •Built a finance function at a startup that scaled, ideally early enough to set up processes rather than inherit them.
  • •Can build a real operational-financial model tying lab reality (throughput, yield, capacity, headcount) to cash.
  • •Can write code with SQL at minimum, and Python ideally, to automate finance systems via APIs.
  • •Understands physical-business cost structure (reagents, instruments, consumables, capex vs COGS, yield loss).
  • •Has Swiss and/or European finance experience (VAT, social charges, employment law).
