Job Summary

Own the end-to-end boot path and sustainment of Anduril’s embedded robotics computing across deployed hardware. Customize and forward-port vendor BSPs, debug boot failures from firmware (EDK2/U-Boot) through kernel images and encrypted root storage, and ensure deterministic device enumeration for mission-critical peripherals. Build and maintain automated hardware-in-the-loop test suites, triage CVEs, and perform deep hardware/software root-cause analysis using bench and diagnostic tools.
Location: United States
Workplace: Onsite
Employment Type: Full time
Job Function: Software Engineering
Seniority: Mid level

Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the boot path end-to-end on deployed compute, including low-level firmware, U-Boot/UEFI, unified kernel images, initrd, encrypted storage unlock, and handoff to a running NixOS environment.
  • •Customize and sustain vendor BSPs by reconciling vendor components (e.g., Tegra/Jetson Linux, NXP) with modern NixOS package sets and producing kernel/device tree patches as needed.
  • •Guarantee deterministic hardware availability by ensuring peripherals (cameras, radars, motor controllers, CAN networks, and radios) reliably enumerate and operate across boots and upgrades.
  • •Sustain a long-lived signed boot baseline by keeping encrypted storage and signed boot chain working while triaging and remediating CVEs in deployed vendor kernels and low-level components.
  • •Automate and validate hardware reliability by building and maintaining Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test suites and performing deep hardware/software root-cause analysis for boot failures and intermittent issues.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 166,000 - 220,000 annually

Key Requirements

  • •4+ years of professional embedded Linux platform, sustainment of deployed embedded Linux platforms, or kernel-adjacent integration experience.
  • •Deep understanding of the embedded Linux boot chain, including firmware/bootloaders (U-Boot, EDK2), device trees, kernel command line, initrd/initramfs, and root filesystem assembly.
  • •Strong C programming skills for kernel/driver development and BSP patching, plus proficiency in Rust or C++ for userspace integration and services.
  • •Hands-on debugging of hardware at the bench using serial consoles, schematics/datasheets, and tracing issues to the board level.
  • •Experience maintaining deployed software safely and resiliently, with strictly validated updates to prevent bricking/regressions.
