Job Summary

Lead mobile diesel maintenance technician performing DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, and advanced diagnostics for light, medium, and heavy-duty trucks and trailers. You’ll manage parts inventory on a service truck, maintain vehicle readiness and documentation, road test vehicles, and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations. The role also includes mentoring other technicians, supporting quality control, and stepping in for the mobile technician manager when needed, while traveling 100% in the field.

Key Responsibilities

•Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and DOT inspections, including follow-up repairs on light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
•Diagnose, adjust, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems, using test instruments and road tests as needed.
•Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company service truck, including reconciliation and parts procurement from approved vendors.
•Maintain the service vehicle with safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections, and complete DOT forms and other documentation accurately.
•Mentor and teach other mobile diesel technicians, support quality control inspections, and perform Mobile Technician Manager duties when absent.

Key Requirements

•High school diploma/GED and 7 years of diesel/truck-related experience (or an equivalent combination of related education/certification and experience).
•Obtain required certifications within 18 months: ASE T8 (PMI), ASE C1 (Service Consultant), and ASE 608/609.
•Pass DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical (or submit a valid DOT medical card with sufficient validity).
•Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain a Driver Qualification File.
•Supply required hand tools and demonstrate the physical ability to perform moderately heavy, sustained labor and detailed mechanical work.
