Key Responsibilities

  • •Architect the end-to-end telemetry data platform, including ingestion, modeling, storage/query interfaces, and schema evolution.
  • •Define the telemetry data model (semantic conventions and shared business identifiers) and drive adoption across service teams.
  • •Set OpenTelemetry migration direction, including collector architecture, context propagation, and sampling strategy.
  • •Own AI/agentic telemetry integration with Databricks and MLflow, ensuring governance and correlation with traces and metrics.
  • •Architect high-volume telemetry collection/routing at scale and set observability cost/economics to balance fidelity and spend.

Key Requirements

  • •10+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems, data platforms, or observability infrastructure at Principal or Staff level.
  • •Hands-on production ownership of metrics, logs, and distributed tracing at scale, including working knowledge of cardinality and cost mechanics.
  • •Deep telemetry data engineering: large-scale data architecture with open table formats, Spark/distributed processing, streaming ingestion, partitioning/schema evolution, and query cost tuning.
  • •Practical experience with Databricks (jobs, clusters, Unity Catalog, Delta) and MLflow for model and agent telemetry.
  • •Practical OpenTelemetry experience across collectors, semantic conventions, context propagation, and sampling strategy (including tail-based sampling).
