Job Summary

Deliver ecology surveys and protected species work, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and biodiversity assessments. Prepare ecological deliverables such as survey reports, method statements, and management plans, and perform Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) evaluations. Collaborate with clients, project teams, and GIS specialists to apply the mitigation hierarchy and design mitigation, compensation, and enhancement measures. Support junior team members through mentoring and contribute to nature-positive outcomes at landscape scale.

Key Responsibilities

•Plan and undertake ecology surveys, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals and protected species surveys.
•Prepare tenders and ecological deliverables such as survey reports, method statements, and management plans.
•Conduct Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessments.
•Work closely with clients, project teams, and GIS specialists, applying the mitigation hierarchy to design mitigation, compensation, and enhancement measures.
•Provide client liaison and project management, including consultation and negotiation with regulators and stakeholders, and mentor junior team members.

Key Requirements

•An appropriate academic qualification and/or experience in a related discipline.
•Membership of CIEEM (or working towards it).
•Understanding of digital data collection tools (e.g., Coreo, Fieldmaps, Survey123).
•Professional experience within ecological consultancy or a regulatory environment.
•Knowledge of BNG principles and guidance, including experience conducting BNG assessments and producing clear, accurate ecological reports.
