Key Responsibilities

  • •Own end-to-end developer relations for the open source portfolio, setting strategy and being accountable for outcomes.
  • •Hire, level, and grow a team of Developer Advocates, providing clear expectations and feedback.
  • •Strengthen Databricks’ trusted, vendor-neutral participation in Apache and Linux Foundation ecosystems.
  • •Create repeatable advocacy approaches (content flywheels, contribution guides, event playbooks) and enable the wider DevRel org to adopt them.
  • •Drive awareness and adoption through speaking, high-quality educational content, meetups/user groups, and community support; translate community friction into product/R&D roadmap changes.

Salary: USD 172,300 - 236,950 annually

Key Requirements

  • •8+ years in developer relations/developer advocacy with hands-on technical experience (e.g., software engineer, data engineer, solutions architect).
  • •2+ years managing and growing a developer relations team, including hiring, leveling, and promoting advocates.
  • •Strong open source track record, including sustained contribution and experience with governance, release processes, and community norms.
  • •Established relationships within the Apache Software Foundation and Linux Foundation ecosystems, with ability to engage them effectively.
  • •Deep knowledge of the Open Lakehouse stack (Apache Spark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Apache Iceberg, MLflow) and working understanding of agentic open source (Omnigent).
