Job Summary

Design primary electrical systems for transmission and distribution projects, leading HV plant primary engineering for substations up to 800kV. Develop single-line diagrams, layouts, equipment sizing, protection and control coordination, earthing and lightning protection, and underground cable designs. Integrate HVDC/HVAC systems, transformer layouts, auxiliary systems, and auxiliary power/battery requirements, while coordinating with civil teams, vendors, and contractors to deliver compliant engineering documentation and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

•Prepare designs and deliverables for primary electrical systems for transmission and distribution projects.
•Design primary substation systems (e.g., AIS/GIS configurations), including transformer installations, circuit breaker selection, busbar arrangements, and switchgear layouts up to 800kV.
•Produce key substation engineering documentation such as single-line diagrams, general arrangement layouts, sizing and layout plans, and interconnection/termination diagrams and cable schedules.
•Perform short-circuit force calculations, fault current analysis, equipment protection design, and ensure protection/control coordination with secondary systems and grid operator requirements.
•Coordinate HV primary design integration across disciplines (civil foundations/structures and cable routes) and support procurement through equipment specifications and BOMs, including vendor/contractor coordination.

Key Requirements

•Master of Engineering degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
•Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE) license (or equivalent) in the relevant field.
•Experience with HV Plant Design for large EHV grid substations (mandatory).
•Previous experience designing HV primary substations using GIS/AIS configurations is preferable.
•Very good English (oral and written) communication skills are mandatory; overall 10+ years of experience is preferred.
