Key Responsibilities

  • •Establish immediate contact with policyholders and claimants, and conduct extensive investigations into causes and origins of major property claims.
  • •Inspect property damage, review information to prepare estimates, evaluate coverage, determine liability and total value, and negotiate settlements.
  • •Determine value for applicable coverage, develop estimates, and agree on scope of work and repair costs with contractors and/or policyholders.
  • •Set and maintain adequate reserves, document claim files, and submit final reports for claim closure.
  • •Advise claims adjusters, assign and supervise independent adjusters when necessary, and coordinate catastrophe team activities at catastrophe sites.

Key Requirements

  • •High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience (up to two years equivalent may be substituted), or a Bachelor’s degree and three years of claims handling experience (up to two years equivalent may be substituted).
  • •Working knowledge of Windows software required.
  • •Appropriate license as required by state, plus a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • •Preferred completion of Introduction to Claims (AIC 30) and AIC 35.
  • •Ability to provide 24-hour availability for emergency claims service.
