Provide lead legal counsel to marketing and product teams, advising on state and federal marketing law compliance, including UDAP, antitrust, and marketing privacy requirements. Support commercial marketing-related transactions (licensing, sponsorships, influencer/agency agreements) and help advance trademarks and intellectual property work, collaborating across Legal and business teams to manage regulatory risk.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide lead legal counsel and risk management advice for compliance with state and federal marketing laws and regulations, including UDAP, antitrust, sweepstakes and sponsorships, and marketing privacy.
•Analyze advertising across online, broadcast, carmax.com, app, and social media, advising on disclaimers, disclosures, and claims substantiation.
•Collaborate with marketing, operations, and Legal on cross-functional projects and innovations, products, services, and strategic partnerships.
•Support marketing and advertising commercial transactions, including licensing, sponsorship, influencer, agency, and third-party listing agreements.
•Provide substantive support to Compliance Services and assist with trademark and other intellectual property development and maintenance.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 165,400 - 264,600 annually

Key Requirements

•Law degree.
•Member in good standing with the bar of a U.S. jurisdiction.
•Minimum 8 years of relevant legal experience.
•Experience advising clients on development and marketing of consumer products in a regulated industry, ideally automotive.
•Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical/problem-solving, and ability to collaborate and advise internal and external clients.
