Key Responsibilities

  • •Execute hands-on visual structural condition assessments across mining and critical water infrastructure, including elevated walkways and platforms.
  • •Verify structural condition elements (load paths, corrosion, concrete degradation, deformation, weld conditions, and anchorage integrity) and assign severity classifications.
  • •Create inspection reports using approved templates, documenting deficiencies with annotated redline drawings and high-resolution photos; escalate imminent risks.
  • •Develop structural response actions, repair plans, and construction specifications for structural remediation and brownfield integration; coordinate ground-improvement where needed.
  • •Lead structural engineering tasks across project phases (scoping to commissioning), conduct site visits, and supervise/mentor junior engineers and EITs.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering (or equivalent).
  • •6+ years of structural engineering experience focused on asset management, structural condition assessments, and brownfield remediation.
  • •Ability and willingness to perform hands-on field inspections in challenging environments, including remote underground mines and active water treatment facilities.
  • •Expert-level knowledge of Canadian structural design codes (CSA S16 for structural steel and CSA A23.3 for concrete).
  • •Access to a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driver’s record.
