Join our Local Government team as a Senior Highways Engineer based in Exeter or Taunton. Lead multidisciplinary highway design projects for county authorities, deliver designs to standards and budgets, mentor junior engineers, assist with planning and cost estimation, and support site activities to ensure high-quality, timely project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop highway designs on multidisciplinary projects through various stages of the project lifecycle
•Ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget, technical standards, and legal requirements
•Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians, contributing to their professional development
•Assist Project Managers with planning, programming, technical input, pricing of project briefs, proposals, and cost estimation
•Prepare and review design documentation, drawings, reports, and technical submissions

Key Requirements

•Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience within a highway design environment
• Chartered Engineer preferred or working towards IEng or CEng status
•Experience in multidisciplinary highway design across different project stages
•Technical knowledge in road geometry, junction design, active travel schemes, drainage, road restraint systems, and traffic signs/road markings
•Proficient in design software such as Autodesk Civil 3D, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, InfoDrainage and/or PDS
