Job Summary

Own sustaining engineering for deployed bench-scale robotics and mechanical systems, improving reliability, uptime, and lifecycle performance in scientific automation workcells. You’ll troubleshoot failures across pneumatic, electromechanical, optical, and mechanical subsystems, run root cause analysis, and implement durable design fixes and preventive maintenance plans. Using SolidWorks CAD, rapid prototyping, and reliability metrics (MTBF/MTTR), you’ll translate recurring field issues into engineering change and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

•Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve deployed bench-scale robotics and mechanical systems used in scientific automation workflows.
•Diagnose failures across pneumatic, electromechanical, optical, and mechanical subsystems and implement durable corrective actions.
•Design replacement parts, retrofits, fixtures, and reliability improvements using SolidWorks CAD and analysis.
•Create and validate prototypes, spares, and design fixes using 3D printing, laser cutting, and other rapid fabrication methods.
•Manage engineering changes and reliability tracking, maintaining documentation, runbooks, and lessons learned from field issues.

Key Requirements

•Experience in mechanical engineering, robotics, laboratory automation, or a related technical field.
•A Bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent practical experience) in mechanical engineering, robotics, or a related discipline.
•Strong SolidWorks CAD skills, including practical experience with GD&T and DFMA.
•Experience troubleshooting mechanical systems under operational pressure, including cross-interface issues across mechanical, electrical, and controls.
•Working knowledge of RCA, FMEA, CAPA, or related reliability and quality improvement methods.
