Job Summary

Develop and deliver teaching plans tailored to students’ learning needs, including creating individual lesson plans and adapting the curriculum for learners with mild or moderate disabilities. Support students in English/Math both in and outside the classroom, conduct initial assessments, and ensure Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) are in place. Collaborate with SENCO, school leaders, counselors, occupational therapists, psychologists, and parents to help children develop academically and socially, while maintaining student records and a safe learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop teaching plans and search for adaptable activities and resources aligned to students’ educational requirements.
•Teach groups of students with mild or moderate disabilities and modify curriculum to meet individual learning needs.
•Conduct initial assessments, identify learning needs, and ensure appropriate Individual Educational Plans (IEPs) are implemented.
•Support students in English/Math inside and outside the classroom, including students with autistic spectrum, specific learning difficulties, behavioural difficulties (EBD/ADHD/ADD), hearing impairment, speech and language difficulties, and students requiring assistive technology.
•Collaborate with other professionals and families; maintain student records; attend meetings; support health and safety and the school’s overall ethos/aims.

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area and a recognised teaching qualification or license.
•Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar SEN teaching role.
•Excellent command of English.
•Experience dealing or teaching children with learning difficulties or disabilities; special education certification or working towards it is preferred.
•Ability to provide personal care for students with intensive needs and handle physically/emotionally demanding behaviours.
