Job Summary

Lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable generative AI platform capabilities using LLM-powered AI services on Azure AI Foundry. Build and productionize client-facing AI integrations and dashboards, architect end-to-end data pipelines for structured and unstructured data, and establish semantic/data integration standards. Provide technical leadership across delivery teams, coordinate with model risk, data scientists, and compliance stakeholders, and ensure audit-ready metadata, lineage, encryption, and access controls in a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

•Lead development of client-facing AI capabilities and integration methods, embedding them into front ends and interactive dashboards while meeting validation and responsible AI standards.
•Oversee data integration approaches across business units by integrating structured and unstructured data into the enterprise AI framework in collaboration with AI architecture, AI engineering, and data platform teams.
•Architect and implement data pipelines integrating internal banking systems, external feeds, and cloud platforms for AI/ML use cases, including real-time and batch ingestion.
•Drive semantic architecture and engineering practices for Northern Trust intelligence, advancing context engineering and contributing to enterprise AI architecture standards and governance frameworks.
•Provide leadership across multiple technical delivery teams, guide regulatory compliance and audits, and ensure secure data privacy through encryption, access controls, metadata, lineage, and audit trails.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 137,400 - 233,600 annually

Key Requirements

•10+ years of experience in data engineering or integration, preferably in financial services or banking.
•Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
•Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, including PostgreSQL skills and experience with vector databases such as PGVector, Pinecone, or Neo4j.
•Hands-on experience building production-grade LLM/GenAI applications using patterns like RAG, agents, and tool use, including prompt design and streaming for model provider APIs (Anthropic/Claude and/or OpenAI/GPT).
•Experience designing and consuming REST APIs, with knowledge of authentication, rate limiting, and error handling.
