•Drive operations of the U.S. State Policy and Partnerships team, including planning rhythms, communications, trackers, briefings, and meeting cadences.
•Support execution of state and local policy strategy across all 50 states, with a focus on high-priority jurisdictions.
•Track and anticipate risks and opportunities by monitoring legislative, regulatory, political, and stakeholder developments across states.
•Shepherd policy analysis, legislative reviews, briefing materials, talking points, and strategic recommendations through internal review and approval processes.
•Represent OpenAI externally in meetings, conferences, coalitions, and forums, and build trusted relationships through public-private partnerships and state and local initiatives.

Travel: Low travel

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 171,000 - 190,000 annually

Key Requirements

•5-10 years of experience in areas such as public policy (especially tech policy), government (legislative or executive work), government affairs, political campaigns, public affairs campaigns, public sector consulting, or a related field.
•Strong understanding of state and local government, including governors’ offices, legislatures, agencies, mayors, attorneys general, and intergovernmental organizations.
•Ability to organize effectively and bring structure to ambiguity without slowing down fast-moving work.
•Proven capability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholders while staying calm, precise, and accountable.
•Excellent writing and communication skills to translate complex policy and technical issues into clear analyses and recommendations.
