Job Summary

Shape the durability, performance, and sustainability of critical transportation infrastructure across Western Canada. Deliver pavement designs and technical reports for safe, long-lasting roads, analyze pavement performance data using AASHTO 1993 and Mechanistic-Empirical methods, and execute investigations including condition surveys and field sampling. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, support proposal efforts, and mentor junior engineers to strengthen client outcomes and WSP’s pavement engineering reputation.

Key Responsibilities

•Deliver pavement designs and technical reports supporting safe, efficient, long-lasting transportation infrastructure across Alberta and Western Canada.
•Contribute to pavement engineering projects to ensure high-quality technical delivery aligned with client and regulatory expectations.
•Analyze pavement performance data and apply methodologies such as AASHTO 1993 and Mechanistic-Empirical Design to inform design decisions.
•Plan and execute pavement investigations, including condition surveys and interpretation of FWD, IRI, rutting, and lifecycle data.
•Coordinate field investigations (e.g., coring, borehole logging, and material sampling) and support proposal efforts while mentoring junior team members.

Travel: Low travel

Pay and Benefits

Salary: CAD 69,900 - 102,500 annually

Key Requirements

•Degree in Civil Engineering (or related) with a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation (APEGA or Engineers & Geoscientists BC).
•5+ years of experience in pavement engineering, pavement management, or related infrastructure fields.
•Strong expertise in pavement design across flexible, rigid, composite, and gravel pavement structures.
•Proficiency with industry tools such as AASHTO 1993, Pavement ME, StreetPave, and SpectraPave.
•Experience assessing pavement performance using destructive and non-destructive testing methods.
