Key Responsibilities

  • •Operate welding equipment for general repair and production work, including patching leaks on oil-filled units and repairing field returns.
  • •Perform fabrication rework on tanks and parts as called for by NCRs and ECNs, and correct fabrication errors from Weidematic tapes or machine errors.
  • •Cut covers off using the air-air process or grinding stone when necessary, ensuring units are purged with nitrogen to reduce explosion risk.
  • •Weld radiators and brackets, and put welds on covers for Terra Tran and power units, including pressure testing using air and soap.
  • •Repair leaks and perform internal tank repairs when necessary with careful core/coil handling to prevent contamination (e.g., BBs, slag).

Key Requirements

  • •One year technical diploma in MIG and arc welding or equivalent experience.
  • •Successfully complete the Cooper Power Systems weld test.
  • •Ability to perform fabrication rework on tanks and parts using available engineering information (NCRs and ECNs).
  • •Ability to use welding fabrication equipment and tools such as oxy-acetylene torch, plasma arc torch, TIG/MIG welders, stick electrode welder, and grinders/drills.
  • •Ability to operate material handling equipment such as bridge crane, jib crane, and gas/electric lift trucks, and manually operated hand trucks when necessary.
