Job Summary

Provide technical and people leadership for the SP Transmission Network’s civil and structural design team, reporting into the Regional Civil Design Manager and partnering with the Head of Civil Design. Lead civil design delivery across the full project lifecycle, ensure safe, compliant and high-quality outputs, and drive engineering assurance, risk management, governance, and continuous improvement. Deputise for the manager, manage workload and development, and guide complex design and construction resolutions.

•Lead, develop and inspire a team of Design/Senior Design Engineers, fostering a safety- and quality-focused culture.
•Support day-to-day Civil Design function leadership including resource planning, workload management, and team development.
•Deputise for the Regional Civil Design Manager and represent the Civil Design department at internal and external meetings.
•Deliver civil and structural engineering solutions across the SP Transmission Network from feasibility/concept through detailed design and project delivery.
•Act as a technical authority for design outputs, ensuring compliance, engineering assurance, design quality, risk management, and governance throughout the lifecycle.

Key Requirements

•Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or relevant postgraduate qualification) or significant equivalent industry experience.

•Extensive experience in electrical transmission infrastructure projects and understanding of transmission network owners/operators and their markets.
•People management, coaching and leadership experience.
•Chartered Civil Engineer or Structural Engineer, or working toward membership of an appropriate professional body.
