Key Responsibilities

  • •Set security standards, requirements, and technical direction for securing hardware and embedded software across Cisco’s product portfolio.
  • •Architect chip- and platform-level roots of trust, including firmware resiliency, cryptographic device identity, and anti-tamper protections.
  • •Advise business unit engineering leaders and executives on embedded security decisions, translating technical trade-offs into business outcomes.
  • •Ensure alignment with emerging regulations including the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), US federal executive orders, and Common Criteria/CNSA mandates.
  • •Represent Cisco in industry standards bodies (e.g., OCP Security, TCG, DMTF, GlobalPlatform, IEEE, NIST), and mentor hardware security architects across the organization.

Key Requirements

  • •BS/MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, with 15+ years in hardware systems design, silicon security, or embedded architecture.
  • •Track record as a Distinguished Engineer, Fellow, Chief Architect, or senior technical leader driving hardware security strategy.
  • •Deep knowledge of complex networking systems and board-level design, with experience across FPGA/ASIC development and system lifecycle cost/performance trade-offs.
  • •Demonstrated applied cryptography and platform security knowledge, including PKI architectures, key management, and countermeasures like side-channel (DPA/SPA) and fault-injection mitigations.
  • •Outstanding communication skills to translate low-level silicon and firmware trade-offs into executive business outcomes.
