Job Summary

Lead the development of Java/J2EE-based shared services that power Visa’s global products and platform ecosystem. You’ll design scalable, secure, and reusable services, drive architecture standards for reliability and reusability, and collaborate with Product, Engineering, Security, SRE, and Architecture teams. Build cloud-native, containerized systems using Docker and Kubernetes, improve platform quality and operational excellence, and mentor engineers while enabling next-generation payment capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

•Design, build, and evolve core shared services that support Visa’s product development ecosystem at global scale.
•Lead development of scalable, secure, reusable Java/J2EE-based services that serve as foundational platforms for multiple product teams.
•Create architecture and design artifacts, define technical best practices and standards (Java/J2EE, API design, security, scalability), and influence engineering standards.
•Design and implement cloud-native, containerized services using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and elastic scalability.
•Partner with Security teams to implement secure API gateways and authentication/authorization mechanisms, analyze incidents and performance metrics, and drive long-term platform improvements.

Key Requirements

•14+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent advanced degree/PhD experience as described).
•Strong expertise in Java (Core Java, J2EE) and RESTful, API-first service architectures.
•Experience designing elastic, scalable distributed systems and high-traffic web application patterns.
•Hands-on experience building container-based, cloud-native services using Docker and Kubernetes, including cloud migration and multi-cloud strategies.
•Deep understanding of security requirements, secure API gateway patterns, authentication/authorization, and CI/CD-driven automation practices.
