Job Summary

Join WSP’s Development Planning team in Birmingham to deliver day-to-day technical transport planning for development proposals across commercial, retail, residential, and Local Development Framework projects. Support private and public-sector clients with transport strategies, parking strategies, business cases, and scheme development. Lead transport planning inputs, run junction capacity modelling (e.g., Junctions 10, Linsig), contribute to conceptual junction design, and support expert witness evidence alongside multi-disciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide day-to-day technical transport planning input across a range of Development Planning projects.
•Support private-sector and public-sector clients with developing transport and parking strategies, business cases, and scheme development.
•Develop transport planning inputs for Local Development Framework representations and development proposals through the planning process.
•Set up and run junction capacity modelling (e.g., Junctions 10 and Linsig) and support scenario testing.
•Contribute to conceptual junction design (priority, roundabout, signals) and support expert witness evidence where required.

Key Requirements

•Experience with technical transport planning work such as Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, access strategy, parking strategies, and sustainable transport/active travel provision.
•Experience preparing traffic flow information for Transport Assessments and/or Environmental Statements.
•Ability to set up and run junction capacity modelling software such as Junctions 10 and Linsig, including understanding inputs, outputs, and scenario testing.
•Capability to carry out conceptual junction design (priority, roundabout, signals).
•Good communication skills and confidence speaking with clients, project teams, co-professionals, and other stakeholders.
