Job Summary

Support ceded reinsurance accounting within Group Reinsurance, focusing on accurate records and reconciliations for ceded premium payable and ceded loss recoverable accounts. Settle ceded premium, prepare loss bordereaux and facultative claims billings, and complete journal entries and general ledger reconciliations. Reconcile reinsurance reporting and cash activity, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate timely resolutions with internal partners, external customers, and auditors. Hybrid schedule based in Schaumburg, Illinois.

Key Responsibilities

•Analyze and apply appropriate accounting and operational procedures for reinsurance contracts and transactions.
•Review reinsurance reporting, reconcile activity, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate timely resolutions with stakeholders.
•Settle ceded premium in accordance with contract terms, internal controls, and department standards.
•Prepare loss bordereaux reports and facultative loss billings; assist with timely collection of ceded loss recoverables.
•Prepare reinsurance journal entries and complete monthly general ledger reconciliations, including reconciling daily reinsurance cash from bank to ledger.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 58,700 - 75,000 annually

Key Requirements

•Bachelor’s degree and no prior experience required in the Reinsurance area, OR a High School Diploma (or equivalent) plus 2+ years of experience in the Reinsurance area.
•Prior experience combining accounting, reporting, insurance, reinsurance, and financial analysis.
•Knowledge of the reinsurance claim recoverable process and how it links to direct claim processing.
•Comfortable working in team settings with strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with business units and customers.
•Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook) and familiarity with general ledger and financial reporting systems.
