Job Summary

Senior Town Planner to join AECOM’s Scottish Planning team, working on national and local infrastructure projects across Glasgow or Edinburgh with hybrid working. You’ll coordinate multi-disciplinary teams, provide planning policy advice, prepare planning statements and consultation documents, manage applications, engage with stakeholders, and contribute to bids and planning research for energy, transport, water, and regional developments across Scotland.

Key Responsibilities

•Assist in the successful delivery of national and major development applications and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams across project types.
•Provide planning advice to colleagues and clients on planning consent requirements and permitted development rights., carry out planning research and assist with feasibility reports and consent strategies.
•Write Planning Statements, Pre-Application Consultation Reports and Design and Access Statements, and lead/manage planning applications including liaison with local planning authorities.
•Collaborate with teams across AECOM, including Environmental Impact Assessment and Energy teams; participate in meetings; support public and stakeholder engagement.
•Contribute to preparation of successful commercial tenders; carry out planning research and analysis to support planning strategies.

Key Requirements

•Degree in Town Planning (desirable) or related discipline
•Membership of the RTPI or equivalent (desirable)
•Demonstrable experience of working on Scottish planning applications
•Sound knowledge of Scottish planning policy and legislation
•Commercial awareness; ability to write clearly and concisely
