Key Responsibilities

  • •Calibrate test equipment and maintain written and automated database records.
  • •Select, mount, and install grinding wheels; rough turn and finish grind rolls to exact shape, finish, and tolerances.
  • •Check roll surface quality for roughness, hardness (including scaling systems), diameter, and shape using hand and automated inspection tools.
  • •Perform mechanical repair and calibration/troubleshooting of roll grinding machines and equipment to bring them back online.
  • •Use cranes and fork trucks to move rolls and assemblies in and out of machines; load and unload trucks as needed.

Key Requirements

  • •High school graduate or equivalent.
  • •Graduate of an approved apprentice program, vo-tech, or technical school with journeyman papers in General Machining or Tool & Die.
  • •Minimum three years of equivalent, verifiable experience working as a Roll Grinder, Machinist, or Tool & Die trade operating manual and automated machines.
  • •Pass a mechanical aptitude test and be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • •Read and interpret sketches and blueprints in both metric and imperial units.
