Key Responsibilities

  • •Monitor and communicate with vessels and aircraft, handling marine and aeronautical communications.
  • •Perform official Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) functions and execute critical emergency response tasks.
  • •Operate platform radio equipment and radio/satellite telecommunications equipment, including computer applications for helicopter flight and vessel tracking.
  • •Perform weather observing duties and radar/telecommunications network watch duties, including support for ice management (tracking and logging).
  • •Handle call and dispatch duties, maintain logs/accounting procedures, support annual inspection/renewals, and report accidents/near misses/hazardous conditions while adhering to Control of Work and safety requirements.

Key Requirements

  • •Experience as a Radio Operator in an Offshore environment, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • •General Operators Certificate endorsed for GMDSS (issued by Industry Canada).
  • •GMDSS Certificate from an accredited GMDSS training institution.
  • •Aviation and marine weather observer certification (from a recognized institution or qualified instructor).
  • •Restricted Operators Aeronautical (ROA) Certificate and effective communication skills (written, oral, and computer).
