Job Summary

Join a Thales team building safety-critical embedded software for defense and surveillance products. You’ll define low-level software architecture, configure real-time operating systems (Linux/Zephyr/PikeOS/freeRTOS), implement and verify embedded drivers across the V-cycle, and develop software test/verification. The role combines OS/firmware development with hardware integration, technical scouting, and continuous improvement for optronic and missile electronics systems.

Key Responsibilities

•Define and specify low-level software architecture for processing cards (OS choices, communication middleware, open-source solutions, building blocks, drivers).
•Configure operating systems for embedded environments (Linux, Zephyr, Pike OS, freeRTOS).
•Develop embedded drivers for the processing cards that are built.
•Contribute to integration and verification strategy by developing test software and running verification steps on the card.
•Improve engineering practices through technical monitoring and identification of key upcoming technologies.

Key Requirements

•Engineering degree (Bac+5) or equivalent and strong C/C++ skills.
•Solid knowledge of the Linux kernel and experience developing drivers and creating/customizing embedded OS (Yocto, Buildroot).
•Experience with real-time system constraints and mechanisms (e.g., PREEMPT_RT).
•Proficiency with Git and knowledge of Lua and Python.
•Experience with embedded middleware deployment and communication interfaces (e.g., DDS, CORBA, Iceoryx; SPI, I2C, Ethernet) plus familiarity with x86/ARM targets.
