Key Responsibilities

  • •Lead technical architecture for unified AI Assistant experiences across conversational search, personalized search, and proactive in-app recommendations.
  • •Own end-to-end technical decisions for integrating LLM-powered capabilities into customer-facing systems, balancing quality, latency, and cost at scale.
  • •Bridge Shopping AI & Search, neighboring squads, and product/platform stakeholders to keep architecture coherent as the assistant expands.
  • •Define engineering best practices for AI systems, including observability, graceful degradation, and testing strategies for probabilistic components.
  • •Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, design discussions, hands-on mentoring, and shaping the roadmap by identifying bottlenecks early.

Key Requirements

  • •8+ years of backend engineering experience with distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
  • •Strong hands-on proficiency in Go (or another modern backend language) with willingness to work in Go as the primary stack.
  • •Experience integrating LLMs or AI services into production systems via APIs/SDKs, designing for latency, cost, and non-determinism.
  • •Practical, daily use of AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) beyond experimentation.
  • •Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes) and observability practices, plus strong technical judgment and mentoring mindset.
