Key Responsibilities

  • •Manage a portfolio of marine liability and cargo claims from initial notice through settlement.
  • •Investigate claims merits, assess liability and quantum, and review shipping documents, contracts, and bills of lading to identify risk exposures.
  • •Appoint and manage external surveyors/adjusters and marine experts/lawyers; negotiate settlements and maintain accurate financial reserving.
  • •Support technical claims assessment by reviewing survey reports, expert opinions, legal advice, invoices, and supporting documentation.
  • •Pursue recovery opportunities (subrogation, salvage, third-party recovery), ensure compliance and accurate claims recordkeeping, and prepare required claims reports/bordereaux.

Key Requirements

  • •Degree or Diploma in Insurance, Maritime Studies, Business, Logistics, Law or related discipline.
  • •5 to 8 years of marine claims experience within an insurer, broker, loss adjusting firm, claims consultancy, or marine surveying environment.
  • •Working knowledge of marine cargo, freight forwarders liability, logistics liability, port terminals, ship repairers liability, and related products.
  • •Excellent negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
  • •Ability to handle high-pressure, litigious environments and complex cross-border disputes.
