Job Summary

Lead gender-responsive AI research and translate gender equity, inclusion, and social impact considerations into Institute for Agriculture & AI (IAAI) research and deployment. Provide subject-matter guidance on gender-sensitive data and model practices, design women-focused advisory interventions for smallholder farmers, and integrate gender-disaggregated metrics into MEL. Build capacity with governments and partners and advise on evidence-based improvements to AI-enabled agricultural advisory systems.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop and lead gender and inclusion strategy integrated across IAAI research, governance, and operational practices.
•Advise on gender-responsive AI research design, data practices, evaluation, and bias mitigation.
•Design women-focused advisory interventions and ensure advisory content and delivery reflect women’s real constraints and information needs.
•Integrate gender-disaggregated indicators into MEL frameworks and use evidence to drive adaptive improvements.
•Provide technical guidance and capacity building to governments and partners, supporting inclusive pilot design and scale-up.

Key Requirements

•Develop and lead the Institute’s gender and inclusion strategy, integrating it into research agendas, governance, operational guidelines, and program design.
•Advise AI researchers, data scientists, and agronomy experts on gender-sensitive research design, data collection/annotation, model evaluation, and bias mitigation.
•Design and support targeted AI-enabled advisory interventions that improve accessibility and relevance for women smallholder farmers and marginalized groups.
•Integrate gender-disaggregated indicators into MEL frameworks and analyze adoption, usage, and outcome data to identify gender gaps.
•Provide technical guidance and capacity building to governments, partners, and innovators on gender-responsive AI and digital agricultural advisory systems.
