Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide weather support to USAFA, including flight training, jump training, and NCAA athletic events.
  • •Deliver accurate, timely forecasts for soaring, parachute, and powered-flight operations in rapidly changing weather conditions.
  • •Collect, analyze, and interpret meteorological data to assess mission impacts and support operational decision-making.
  • •Produce and disseminate actionable weather products, including warnings, watches, advisories, observations, and terminal aerodrome forecasts.
  • •Communicate weather risks and mission impacts clearly to leadership and supported units, perform quality control, and support 24/7/365 operations.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 33.73 hourly

Key Requirements

  • •Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and pass a Public Trust background check.
  • •Minimum of 5 years of experience in a DoW Weather Stations or National Weather Service Forecast Offices.
  • •Able to work various shifts as scheduled, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional 12-hour shifts.
  • •Graduate of a DoW Forecasting School or have a bachelor’s degree in meteorology.
  • •Ability to produce forecasts in rapidly changing conditions with high attention to detail and strong independent decision-making.
