Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide safety, health, and environmental leadership and oversight for hydrogeological activities across the mining lifecycle.
  • •Act as the subject-matter expert for hydrogeology, including groundwater resources, seepage/discharge control, mine dewatering, depressurisation, and groundwater ingress.
  • •Lead hydrogeological investigations, modelling, and data governance (drilling, hydraulic testing, monitoring networks, databases, conceptual and numerical models).
  • •Lead scope, manage, and provide specialist hydrogeological input into studies and projects, including water-related initiatives and post-closure water management.
  • •Conduct technical reviews, audits, and assurance activities and evaluate hydrogeological risks and opportunities; communicate findings to stakeholders and mentor junior/mid-level professionals.

Key Requirements

  • •BSc Honours in Geohydrology/Hydrogeology (NQF8) (Masters (NQF9)/Doctoral (NQF10) preferred).
  • •8–10 years of relevant geohydrological experience, preferably in the mining industry.
  • •Recognised specialist in applying hydrogeology across mining and water/environment-related disciplines.
  • •Proven track record developing and implementing hydrogeological and mine dewatering/depressurisation solutions that deliver measurable value.
  • •Strong safety knowledge and consistent application of safety principles, risks, and requirements.
