Key Responsibilities

  • •Provide project technical support and responsible design for transmission projects with overhead transmission lines up to 400kV.
  • •Support overhead line design on complex multi-discipline projects and contribute to large programmes such as Great Grid Partnership (GGP) projects.
  • •Write proposals and outline project details including timeline, resources, budget, objectives, and goals.
  • •Deliver OHL design activities including PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analysis, loading trees, design criteria, sag-tension calculations, clearance reports, and conductor/insulator selection.
  • •Originate and check engineering deliverables (designs, reports, proposals, presentations, drawing packages) and perform internal quality checks.

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline, such as electrical engineering or power engineering.
  • •Professionally qualified CEng Chartered Engineer with a recognized electrical engineering institution (e.g., IET).
  • •Experience delivering UK projects for transmission system operators (e.g., National Grid, SSE, SPT) in line with operator standards.
  • •Project experience in overhead line engineering, ideally up to 400kV.
  • •Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
