Job Summary

Lead the creation and management of the company’s government compliance program, driving end-to-end adherence to FedRAMP, CMMC, IL5/IL6, and related DoD/DoR requirements. Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Business Development to translate regulatory frameworks into architecture, documentation, and processes, and pursue ongoing certification and security controls in distributed cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

•Build and own the government compliance function from scratch, reporting to the COO and enabling scale for production government software sales.
•Lead the company through CMMC Level 2, FedRAMP, IL5, and IL6 certifications, translating federal regulatory frameworks into practical decisions for architecture, documentation, and process.
•Coordinate across engineering, operations, and business development to implement compliance decisions and maintain ongoing certification readiness.
•Define boundaries for Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and scope assessment environments to ensure compliant system operation.
•Develop and maintain a System Security Plan and manage evidence collection and continuous monitoring using appropriate tooling.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 130,000 - 170,000 annually

Key Requirements

•3+ years of experience with compliance audits (FedRAMP, PCI, SOC2, HIPAA, etc.) and prior US Government compliance/audit experience (FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST 800-53/800-171, US Government ATOs) ideally at a defense contractor or defense tech startup
•Experience defining CUI boundaries and scoping assessment environments
•Experience writing or substantially contributing to a System Security Plan
•Proficiency with GRC platforms (Drata, Vanta, eMASS, or similar) and security tooling for evidence collection and continuous monitoring
•Experience implementing security controls and assessing compliance in distributed cloud environments (AWS, Azure)
