Key Responsibilities

  • •Continuously improve Wise’s financial crime prevention infrastructure and systems, delivering measurable impact on customer security.
  • •Build and refine controls to prevent scams affecting Wise customers.
  • •Drive backend and frontend development for scam prevention and detection systems (80% backend, 20% frontend).
  • •Design and operate CI/CD pipelines and distributed, concurrent systems to support scalable detection capabilities.

Key Requirements

  • •Professional experience with Java or other JVM-based languages, including Spring.
  • •Experience building and designing scalable web applications handling large traffic loads, ideally with React and JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • •Proven ability to design and operate CI/CD pipelines and distributed, concurrent systems.
  • •Strong data proficiency with relational and non-relational databases, including query optimisation and resilient schema design.
  • •Commitment to test-driven development and best coding practices, with strong problem-solving and code fundamentals.
