Key Responsibilities

  • •Troubleshoot network equipment; remove and replace defective equipment/modules and coordinate resources to isolate and restore service.
  • •Proactively identify potential problem areas to ensure network integrity and customer impact mitigation.
  • •Assist in installation/change/decommissioning and testing of transport, Ethernet, SONET, and IP network layers across bandwidths, including installation/testing of CPE and end user service delivery.
  • •Perform preventive/scheduled maintenance and inspections on network and critical infrastructure, including HVAC systems, high-voltage electrical systems, and DC power plants.
  • •Maintain asset management by tracking spares, updating installation records, entering detailed trouble-ticket logs, coordinating shipping/receiving, and providing status updates and reports.

Key Requirements

  • •High School Diploma or GED, or up to 2 years of relevant job experience including 1+ years network monitoring, installation, or maintenance/repair.
  • •Entry-level technician with knowledge/experience in at least one discipline: Transmission (DS1/DS3/SONET), Switching (circuit-switching/SS7), TCP/IP (routers/higher-layer protocols), or Outside Plant (fiber locating, OTDR, Mass Fusion Splicing).
  • •Knowledge of locating fiber optic cable, right-of-way, and As-Builts.
  • •PC skills with Microsoft Windows and Office, plus ability to quickly learn corporate databases.
  • •Valid driver’s license and ability to work in all weather conditions; on-call 24x7 rotational basis with call out, dispatch, and overtime as needed.
