Key Responsibilities

  • •Install, repair, and overhaul general plant mechanical equipment (turbines, pumps, compressors, conveyors, pulverizers, and related components).
  • •Work from drawings and sketches; ensure equipment is properly isolated and protected before starting work.
  • •Obtain required materials from storeroom and set up rigging; operate lifting equipment when required.
  • •Erect and work from scaffolds; operate mobile/shop equipment and portable tools to complete assigned jobs.
  • •Operate cutting/heating torches (including checking for explosive gases when necessary) and prepare reports/forms for work completed.

Pay and Benefits

Salary: USD 52.42 hourly

Key Requirements

  • •Qualification standards established in the Apprenticeship Program, or—if no graduating apprentice is available—requirements under the Supplementary Agreement on Uniform Practices Regarding Promotion to Machinist Repairman Jobs.
  • •Ability to perform skilled machinist work requiring tolerances as low as +.0005".
  • •Accurate, steady, and calm in emergencies with normal physical strength and endurance.
  • •No color deficiency in vision.
  • •Ability to observe and follow safety instructions and prescribed safety precautions.
