Key Responsibilities

  • •Design and build backend services across multiple commerce initiatives with an emphasis on reusability across brands.
  • •Partner with product managers to translate business goals into technical designs and ship features end to end with frontend and backend engineers.
  • •Architect and harden systems for reliability and scalability, including planning for brand-specific catalog structures, traffic patterns, and workflows.
  • •Participate in code reviews and design discussions, and mentor other engineers to raise the technical bar.

Key Requirements

  • •6+ years building production backend systems, ideally with exposure to e-commerce/retail/content-commerce platforms.
  • •Deep proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript/JavaScript, building services that perform under real user traffic and spikes.
  • •Experience designing REST and GraphQL APIs for internal teams and external partners (e.g., retail affiliates, payment providers, product data feeds).
  • •Comfort designing event-driven systems (Kafka, SQS, EventBridge) for inventory sync, price updates, order status, and affiliate commerce events.
  • •Strong database design instincts across relational and NoSQL systems (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DynamoDB).
