Key Responsibilities

  • •Deliver full lifecycle cable engineering packages from feasibility and concept design through detailed design, installation support, and commissioning.
  • •Review complex HV cable system designs, including route development and burial risk assessments, plus thermal, electromagnetic, and mechanical calculations.
  • •Perform cable rating and system studies such as ampacity, short circuit forces, thermal stability, and electromagnetic interference analysis.
  • •Carry out cable pulling, jointing, cleating, and installation feasibility studies.
  • •Support third-party inspections and interface activities with manufacturers, suppliers, and contractors to verify compliance with IEC, CIGRÉ, National Grid TPs, and other international standards.

Key Requirements

  • •Electrical Engineering Degree or minimum HNC in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline.
  • •Experience in Cable System Design Engineering for HV/EHV transmission and distribution projects; FEED experience is essential.
  • •Experience in regulated, quality-assured environments, preferably with National Grid experience.
  • •Basic understanding of onshore cable routing; cable pulling and mechanical forces; burial risk assessments and protection strategies.
  • •Basic knowledge of national and international standards, including IEC, CIGRÉ, and National Grid TPs.
