Key Responsibilities

  • •Sterilize reusable medical instruments and handle biohazard materials daily in a controlled CSSD environment, including verifying items for re-sterilization and proper tracking.
  • •Check sterilizer operation and ensure correct time/temperature settings, biological indicators, and safe use of PPE and standard safety precautions.
  • •Maintain a safe, clean CSSD environment by removing visible dirt/microorganisms, decontaminating/disinfecting items, and collecting/transporting soiled instruments in suitable containers.
  • •Assemble instrumentation sets and trays, select correct packaging materials, ensure proper packaging sizing, and maintain sterilization integrity until instruments are used.
  • •Maintain accurate monitoring reports and support validation/quality control (physical, chemical, and biological indicators), while adhering to infection control, compliance, and quality improvement practices.

Key Requirements

  • •Graduation from an accredited CSSD program.
  • •Current and valid SCFHS nursing license.
  • •Minimum 2 years of experience, preferably in a tertiary care setting.
  • •Demonstrate competence in mandatory competencies required for the position.
  • •Maintain current licensure and certifications required for the role.
