Job Summary

Maintain, modernize, and troubleshoot automation and control systems for manufacturing packaging equipment. The role includes preventive and autonomous maintenance, PLC and integrated control system upgrades, integration of end-of-line automation and data acquisition/vision systems, and electrical obsolescence mitigation. You’ll read and update schematics and documentation, commission manufacturing capability, work with project teams and OEMs, and ensure all work follows EHS, site safety, and BRC/6S standards while communicating status to the Automation Lead.

Job Function: QA, Test & Release Engineering

Key Responsibilities

•Modernise PLC platforms and integrated control systems, including troubleshooting and code writing.
•Integrate technology across new and existing systems for process control, end-of-line automation, and data acquisition/vision and validation systems.
•Read, update, and maintain schematics and documentation; contribute to engineering design, delivery, and commissioning.
•Deliver automation and electrical obsolescence mitigation while implementing sustainable ways of working to ensure asset capability, availability, and performance.
•Perform preventive and autonomous maintenance and respond to breakdowns in line with work procedures, EHS policies, and site BRC/6S standards.

Key Requirements

•GCSE Grades 4/C or above and a minimum L3 Engineering qualification, including (or separate) electrical qualification.
•Experience with production equipment, production lines, and packaging systems.
•Knowledge of H&S, including machine safety regulations and legislation.
•Experience working on inverters, servo drives, and HMI panels.
•Computer literate in MS Office applications with strong communication skills.
