Job Summary

Lead American Express’s independent Operational Risk Management (ORM) testing and monitoring program, managing a team of risk professionals and partnering across business units to embed operational risk into day-to-day operations. Develop risk-based annual testing plans and targeted coverage, perform independent testing and challenge processes, and drive enterprise reporting to senior leadership, the Enterprise Risk Management Committee, and the Board.

•Manage an independent testing and monitoring program based on an annual risk-assessed plan and testing methodology.
•Develop a universe of targeted operational risk coverage aligned to a risk-based annual plan.
•Conduct independent, risk-based testing and monitoring by analyzing operational risks, trends, and issues; collaborate with first-line teams and lead walkthroughs to improve controls.
•Independently monitor operational risk trends and manage an effective challenge process based on defined criteria.
•Manage independent 2LoD testing and drive reporting to the Enterprise Risk Management Committee, Board of Directors, and senior management on operational risk topics.

Key Requirements

•Excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•Experience in process governance, including processes aligned with policies and regulatory/operational standards.
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios.
•Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Mgmt., Accountancy or related field; advanced degrees or certifications are advantageous.
