Key Responsibilities

  • •Own the Starship mechanical hardware commodity for fasteners and related joining devices—from supplier selection through rate production.
  • •Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned parts and suppliers, resolving manufacturing, quality, and capacity issues that threaten build or flight schedules.
  • •Lead NPI and work transfers by qualifying suppliers, validating processes, and ramping production to aggressive takt times.
  • •Drive production part approval and process validation (PPAP, FAIR, capability studies) to control and prove critical characteristics before hardware reaches the vehicle.
  • •Lead containment and recurrence prevention for nonconforming hardware by performing root-cause analysis across supplier and SpaceX processes (e.g., heat treat, plating/coating, thread forming, machining, forging, dimensional/GD&T escapes).

Key Requirements

  • •Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • •1+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or supplier development.
  • •Experience with mechanical fasteners and joining hardware (bolts, nuts, screws, studs, washers, pins, springs, fittings, inserts, etc.).
  • •Experience with fastener or precision hardware manufacturing processes including heat treatment and surface finishing.
  • •Knowledge of supplier quality frameworks (PPAP, APQP, FAIR, control plans, PFMEA, MSA) and quality systems (AS9100, ISO 9001).
